Month of Love: What is Love?

According to www.dictionary.com, love is showing affection or having a great interest in something.

How do you show affection?

Look at your partner right now. Does your heart swell? Does your body tingle with a desire to always make them happy? If so, how do you show this to them?

In our house, we show it by helping each other. Right now, it’s a little one sided since I’m in a non weight bearing boot. Normally, we both do the chores and cook dinner together. He’s my proofreader. I hold boards down while he nails projects together. We work together in everything. We also snuggle up together at the end of the day and talk about everything going on.

You can show affection to the friends you love as well. Sending a thinking of you card or a text works wonders in helping a friend feel good. Asking “how are you” and listening to how they respond means the world to someone who needs it. Taking the time for someone is the perfect way to show affection.

Love is also having a great interest in something. My love of writing is no secret. I am a complete and total nerd when it comes to playing with words and my dream is to do it full time some day. I enjoy taking words and arranging them a very specific and certain way to say something on paper. I’m lucky that my interest also helps me show affection to those I love.

My husband has an interest in woodworking and is working on making a bookshelf for my classroom. He used his interest to fix our backporch step after we figured out that’s probably where I injured my foot. He has a ton of projects he wants to do to sale, but he always puts those he loves first.

What do you have a great interest in? How can you use it to show your love toward someone? Don’t think-“well, I need this and don’t have it” or “I don’t have the time I need.”

The one and only thing expected of us as humans is to love others as we love ourselves! Love! Show it! Scream it! Don’t be afraid to love!
