I love to write!!!! I love doing creative word play and making my readers think!!! And now, I have some secrets to tell!!
First, to my readers that have been concerned, I’m okay!
Second, thank you!
Why?
It is because your concern shows that I have done my job. You see, while there is a piece of the author somewhere in their writing, the story is not always about them. I get a little personal in the blogs so, naturally, my readers think my blogs are a clear and direct telling of my life. Yes, but really no.
While I do share openly about myself, most of the time, I only sprinkle in bits and pieces of myself.
I love to take an idea and run with it. I love to start with a spark and turn it into a wildfire of imagination that is so good, the reader can feel the heat of the flames. You can give me a word, a thought, or some crazy random thing and I will spin a story around it so fast you can’t keep up.
My writing has three purposes. The first is to entertain the reader since I write primarily fiction. The second is to get the reader to think. So, even though my main character may be fiction, her journey is so real the reader can’t help but feel everything with her. The third reason is the personal one. I write because that’s when I know who I am. I breathe when I write. The world around me disappears and I become one with myself.
My writing is my purpose and if my readers are worried about me, then that means they are thinking about what they’ve read. Some will even take it a step further and apply it to their own lives because they can understand the feeling of what has been written.
My writing has always been my voice. Even now when I’m not as afraid to stand in front of a group and speak as I once was, my writing speaks louder than my spoken word. On paper, I can take my reader far away from the “now” we are in and transport them to a different journey they may have never considered.
That’s my primary goal. I want my readers to think and put things in a different prespective. I want them to be able to say, “I get that.” “I’m going through that, too.” “I understand that.” If my readers are thinking because of something I wrote, then my purpose for writing has been fulfilled.
