How are you doing on your New Years goals so far?
Since I don’t make actual resolutions, I’m doing pretty good with mine so far.
You see, I’ve been working on a very specific goal for a while. But, let me start from the beginning.
I have established that I’m a writer. I have over twenty books published but they are either self published or hybrid published. My goal is to be traditionally published with the book my editor and I are working on now.
Why do I care how I’m published? Well, that’s part of the journey I am on. I have always desired to be traditionally published, but my career began in the early era of self publishing. The person in my life at the time convinced me to go that route instead because it was supposedly easier. It’s not, by the way.
So on I went to write many books. I got involved with several book events. I spoke at many schools and women’s events. I started coaching other authors on how to achieve their own journey. I put events together for other authors. And then COVID hit and personal life changed.
It’s been hard getting back to it after COVID. I still self published a couple of books, but also connected with my editor for the first time. This connection would help me find my way back.
Together, we have talked through this project to the point of me realizing what I do and don’t miss in my author life before everything changed. It’s through my conversations with her that I started honing in on my purpose and started creating my goal.
You see, I have been empowered by the journey I have been on. If I had not traveled on this particular path, I would not have found the real me that’s been hiding within all along. I found myself and I am stronger for it.
My word of the year is “empower” because I want to not only empower myself, but others as well. This is my goal and it expands beyond 2025 because this is also my purpose.
How will I do this?
Through my writing platform, number one. All my main female characters go through an empowering journey. Through fiction I give my readers a journey of empowerment that is actually attainable in real life.
I have other plans as well, but for those, you’ll need to stay tuned!!
